The lens is made up of 15 elements in 11 groups, including 5 SLD and 1 Aspherical glass elements. It's wide max F1.4 aperture and 11-blade rounded diaphragm is able to produce wonderfully smooth bokeh and allows you to play with a very shallow depth-of-field to create highly impactful portraits. Professional Optical Performance

Unlike the existing 85mm F1.4 DG lens in the Sigma lens line-up, the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN features five SLD elements and one aspherical element. It's equipped with the latest high-refractive-index glass which corrects aberrations that aren't eliminated by in-camera correction. The glass is designed to also correct axial chromatic aberration, helping to provide sharp images with no colour bleeding throughout the aperture range. The lens construction provides edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire frame and yet, correctly utilising the wide 1.4 aperture means you're able to create a very shallow depth-of-field to separate your subject from the background. This makes for captivating portraits where your subject will jump off the page.

Lightweight & Compact

The Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN Lens is lightweight, weighing in at just 630g which is small this focal length lens - The original Sigma 85mm was double this. This model is designed for use with full-frame mirrorless cameras, so it needed to be lighter and more compact. One area where size was able to be cut down was the AF system. It used a stepping motor that's optimised for phase-detect and contrast AF, which provides impressive smooth shooting but also it's also a much smaller focusing element. Furthermore, thanks to modern cameras and their ability to correct most aberrations in-camera, Sigma could produce a lens that leaves those corrections to the camera, leaving the lens to focus on aberrations that can only be corrected by the lens itself, thus reduced the size of the lens. This is a portrait lens through-and-through and now with a lighter shell, you can easily shoot all-day without tiring.

Designed For Convenience

This lens is designed to make your life easier, whether you're a photographer or videographer. It features an iris ring lock switch that allows you to lock your aperture on auto or anywhere in between the entire F1.4-F16 range. This is a useful feature that prevents accidental switches, for example, from auto to manual which could potentially affect your shot. There's also a focus mode switch and AFL button which you can assign functions to. Finally, what is also a valuable asset to this lens is that its dust- and splash-proof, and made from aluminium and TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) which further reduces weight and is durable.
